Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we don't, and how the map protects you — today.
This draft describes how Landcode behaves right now, not a finished legal policy. Where the product still runs on your device, we say so; where it will move to servers as the backend lands, we flag it.
Location and the map
Privacy on the map is a design rule, not a setting you have to find. Specifically:
- Area-level only. A creative's pin shows a neighbourhood — “De Pijp, Amsterdam” — never a street address.
- Jitter. Pin positions are offset by roughly 600 metres, so a pin never points at a real doorstep.
- Pins expire. You choose how long a pin lives (1 hour to 6 months); after that it disappears.
- Events use venues. Events are public gatherings, so their venue addresses are shown on purpose.
When you use “locate me”, your device's coordinates are used to centre the map and are not shared as a precise point with other users.
Contact and messaging
Landcode has no in-app messaging. When you reach out to someone, we open their Instagram or email — contact happens off-platform, on channels they already control. We don't host, read, or store message content, because there isn't any to store.
What's stored, and where
- On your device today. Much of the current app keeps state in the browser session — your posts, cart, map camera and filters — and uploads (photos, video, audio, cover art) are temporary in-session references.
- On servers, as the backend lands. Accounts and sign-in (auth), media storage, the geo database, and orders move to managed services. At that point this policy will describe exactly what each one holds.
Payments
Purchases will be processed by regulated payment providers (Stripe globally; Paystack for several African corridors). Card details are handled by the provider — Landcode is not designed to see or store full card numbers.
Your controls
You can remove your pin, delete posts you've made, and change your landcode at any time. As accounts land, we'll add account-level export and deletion.
Changes
This policy will change as features move from device to server. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
